OUR TIRE TIRE COLLECTION PARTNERSHIP HAS BEEN FANTASTIC. YOU ALL ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE OF OUR AG IN THE CLASSROOM PROGRAM THAT WE HAVE IN THE FALL, AND NUMEROUS OTHER THINGS THAT ARE REALLY HELPING THE COMMUNITY. WE HAVE AN IMBALANCE, AS YOU ALL KNOW, WITH TOO MUCH POPULATION COVERING UP GOOD FARMLAND ON THE EAST END OF THE COUNTY AND TOO MANY ROADS ON THE WEST END OF THE COUNTY TO SAY GRACE OVER. SO THIS IS AN EFFORT TO BE EFFICIENT. AND I THINK THAT'S THE THING THAT THAT CITIZENS OF SAN PATRICIO COUNTY ARE LOOKING FOR IS FOR THE COURT TO BE EFFICIENT IN THEIR OPERATION AND STILL SERVE ALL THOSE NEEDS THAT WE HAVE. I TOLD YOU I WOULDN'T RAMBLE, SO I'LL GET TO THE TO THE TEXT. THE SAN PATRICIO COUNTY BOARD IS SOMEWHAT LIKE A HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE COUNTY. WE ARE THE LARGEST ORGANIZATION. ABOUT 4000 FAMILY MEMBERS WITH ELECTED PROPERTY AND BUSINESS OWNERSHIP, REPRESENTING EVERY COMMUNITY ACROSS THE COUNTY. OUR BOARD HAS OVER 400 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE DRIVING THE ROADS AND THE HIGHWAYS IN THIS COUNTY. AND THAT'S NOT COUNTING THE TIMES, THE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE THEY HAD FROM WHEN THEY WERE 9 OR 10 YEARS OLD, DRIVING A PICKUP OUT ON THE FARM. THIS IS JUST SINCE THEY'VE BEEN PROFESSIONAL FARMERS, SPEAKING PRIMARILY ABOUT MY SONS WHO WERE IN THE OLD DAYS ARRESTED OR STOPPED BECAUSE THEY WERE DRIVING A PICKUP AND THEY COULDN'T SEE OVER THE STEERING WHEEL. OUR FARM OPERATIONS IN THE COUNTY HAVE MANY THINGS IN COMMON WITH THE COUNTY. HIGH PRICED EQUIPMENT AND THE SHORTAGE OF SKILLED LABOR DEMANDS. EFFICIENCY. BOTH MUST BE KEPT BUSY TO ELIMINATE WASTEFUL EXPENSES. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE CAN'T AFFORD DUPLICATION OF EQUIPMENT, EVEN THOUGH WE'RE ALWAYS SHORT ONE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT TO GET THE JOB DONE. WE JUST. THE ECONOMICS JUST DOESN'T LET YOU HAVE THAT LUXURY ANYMORE. ONE THING FOR SURE, THE EQUIPMENT IS NOT GOING TO GET ANY LESS EXPENSIVE, AND THE SKILLED LABOR FORCE IS NOT GOING TO BE MORE PLENTIFUL FOR FARMERS OR FOR THE COUNTY. SO FOR COUNTY EFFICIENCY, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO IMPLEMENT A UNIT ROAD SYSTEM AND FOR BETTER, BETTER OVERSIGHT THAT A PURCHASING AGENT PROCEDURE BE ESTABLISHED. SO WE COULD PLAN THAT EACH YEAR IF WE KNOW WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE SO MANY PICKUP TRUCKS OR SO MANY DUMP TRUCKS OR WHATEVER IT IS, WE COULD BE DOING MORE OF A JOINT BULK PURCHASE OF THOSE ITEMS AND GETTING PERHAPS A BETTER DEAL. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A REPLACEMENT PLAN REGARDLESS, BECAUSE THAT HELPS MAP OUT. WHAT EQUIPMENT NEEDS TO BE, YOU KNOW, AUCTIONED OFF AND HOW EACH YEAR WE CAN PHASE THAT.
